Dr. Md. Mahmodol Hasan is a distinguished Professor of Agronomy and Agricultural Extension at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, with over 24 years of teaching and research experience. His career has been dedicated to advancing sustainable agriculture, improving crop production systems, and addressing the dual challenges of global food security and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Hasan’s research focuses on sustainable crop production systems, nitrogen fertilizer management, resource use efficiency, and environmentally sound rice cultivation practices. He has played a leading role in numerous national and international research initiatives, including as Co-Principal Investigator of the UKRI-GCRF funded South Asian Nitrogen Hub (SANH), contributing to innovations in nitrogen use efficiency, profitability, and yield improvement. He has successfully completed many research projects. He has more than 50 publications in reputed national and international journals, Dr. Hasan is widely recognized for his ability to integrate scientific research with practical applications in farming. His work has contributed to policy dialogues, sustainable development initiatives, and collaborative projects across South Asia.
A dedicated academic, he has supervised 30+ M.S. students and 4+ Ph.D. candidates, while nurturing the next generation of agricultural scientists. He continues to actively collaborate with global partners to promote sustainable food systems aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
