Dr. Abdullah Maruf is a geographer, who is dealing with the global change and coastal disaster resilience of Bangladesh. He is working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies in the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. His research interests span global change, disaster resilience, human capital, and vulnerability studies. Much of his work has been on improving the understanding, human capital-disaster resilience-vulnerability nexus, mainly through the application of household data. He has explored the relationship between human capital and disaster resilience in light of the economic geography. He published more than ten scientific papers in various national and international journals. In 2013, he was awarded DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) scholarship for conducting PhD in Germany.  In addition, Dr. Maruf was awarded travel grant from the graduate school of geosciences at the University of Cologne to present his research results in the Association of American Geographers (AAG) congress -2015 in Chicago, USA.
